Composer: Dan Koch
Dan Koch got his musical start as songwriter for indie pop band Sherwood, who endlessly toured the US and beyond from 2004-2011. Towards the end of that time, he began teaching himself to produce his own recordings and write music for other formats, beyond the structured world of pop-rock. These days he writes for film, TV and advertisements, writes and sings for Wayfarer, and lives with his wife in Seattle, WA.
The Filthy Violets
The Filthy Violets are a 4 piece rock band that couples grit and grunge with catchy melodies and thumping beats. Jesse (vox / rhythm guitar) and Jeremiah Lafica (lead guitar) met their band mates, Timothy Sams (drums) and Cesar Canjura (bass) in October of 2010. Just 2 weeks after the band was formed, they were in the studio recording their first album, Lackluster Blvd, which was completed just weeks later by the end of November.
In 2011, the band began to take their music to the stage, making their rounds through Southern California in venues like The Casbah, Whisky a GoGo, House of Blues main stage, and many others. The band was also nominated for the LA Deli Magazine’s Top Emerging Artist Poll and won the popular vote, determined by the fans. In the summer of 2011, their track “You’re the Riot” was featured in an episode of MTV’s “Awkward”. Radio stations throughout Southern California have taken notice of The Filthy Violets, and their music has been heard on FM 94.9, Rock 105.3, 91X and KPRi 102.1.
Currently, the band is promoting their debut album while they write new material for their second record, which should be released at some point in 2012/2013.
